Jay Perry | Co-Festival Director

Jay Perry is a professional actor (AEA), musician, and arts administrator who grew up in Salt Lake City, where he attended the U of U Actor Training Program. Jay has performed in numerous local theatre productions as well as in professional regional theatre and off-Broadway.

Jay has originated dozens of roles in world and regional premieres for Plan-B Theatre Company, and has walked the boards at Salt Lake Acting Company, Pioneer Theatre Company, The Grand Theatre, Salt Lake Shakespeare, Pygmalion Productions and many others. Jay has acted and narrated for The Utah Symphony, Intermezzo Chamber Orchestra, Nova Chamber Music, Paradigm Chamber Orchestra and The Salt Lake Symphony, and his voice has been featured by Ballet West, Squatters, Hertz, Reading Horizons, The Utah Arts Festival, Chair Entertainment for Xbox Live and the Plan-B Radio hour on KUER’s Radio West.

Jay loves all things Fringe and is passionate about helping artists find new opportunities. Behind the scenes, he worked for seven years as Program Coordinator for Youth Theatre at the University of Utah, and now manages the Alliance Theater for the Utah Arts Alliance. When he’s not on a theatre stage or behind the scenes, you can catch him at your favorite local spot with his family band, The Vitals. Happy Fringe!

Shianne Gray | Co-Festival Director

Shianne Gray | Co-Festival Director

Shianne Gray is a theatre artist and arts administrator, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, by way of San Diego, California; Okinawa, Japan; and Colorado Springs, Colorado. She received her B.A. in Theatre Arts and an Honors Degree from Westminster College, and her M.F.A. in Arts Administration from Southern Utah University.

As a theatre artist, she values truth, creativity, innovation, and collaboration. As an arts administrator, she is focused on the same values—with the additional inclusion of financially sound, socially responsible, and humane managerial practices. In all her work in theatre, she aims to tell stories that move audiences, inspire collaboration, and always seek truth and understanding through the art of performance.

Outside of theatre and arts administration, she loves traveling, playing Dungeons & Dragons, hanging out with animals, music, reading, and crafting. You can almost always catch her with an iced coffee in one hand and a fantasy novel in the other.

Sam Allen | Co-Technical Director

Sam Allen (Co-Technical Director) graduated in 2020 from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Technical Theatre (Stage Management/Directing Emphasis). His most recent works include #SLACABARET with Salt Lake Acting Company (Assistant Stage Manager), CHERRY WINE IN PAPER CUPS with Sackerson Theatre (Stage Manager), AIN’T MISBEHAVIN’ with West Valley Performing Arts (Stage Manager), PROMETHEUS BOUND (Stage Manager), WOMEN OF TRACHIS (Assistant Stage Manager) with the Classic Greek Theatre Festival, the GREAT SALT LAKE FRINGE FESTIVAL 2018 -2021 (Technical Director.) THE AUDACITY and OF COLOR with Plan-B Theatre (Assistant Director/Assistant Stage Manager), and FIRST DATE at The Grand Theatre, (Assistant Director).

Payton Wright | Technical Director

Payton Wright | Technical Director

Payton Wright is a senior in the Stage Management program at the University of Utah. She is a recent graduate of Salt Lake Community College where she earned her Associate of Science in Theatre Arts. Previously Payton has worked as a stage manager and a technical director for Pinnacle Acting Company, Salt Lake Community College, The Box, Salt Lake Acting Company, Hale Centre Theatre, and Capitol Theatre. Currently, Payton serves as the President for the Stage Manager’s Council at the U and she looks forward to continuing her adventures with the Fringe Festival! She would like to thank Amber, Zac, and her mom for their unending encouragement.

Melissa Salguero | Box Office Manager

Melissa Salguero | Box Office Manager

Melissa Salguero (she/her/hers) is a Westminster Graduate, Actor, Writer, and Educator from Kearns, Utah. Melissa has been involved in the Fringe since the summer of 2016, first as a volunteer, then taking on the role of Box Office Supervisor in 2017. A lover of art & chaos, Melissa finds harmony in the Box Office and enjoys facilitating and helping patrons discover the joy that is the Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival. When not in the ticketing office, Melissa can be found performing onstage at various venues in Utah, teaching children Theatre, publishing poetry, or feeding her online shopping addiction. She hopes you enjoy the festival, and join us for two weeks of Fringe-y fun!

Kaycee Lane | Volunteer Coordinator

Kaycee Lane | Volunteer Coordinator

Kaycee Lane is a transplant from North Carolina and has lived in Salt Lake City for the past 11 years, with her husband, local artist Patrick Charles. She graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and minor in History and Criminology with an emphasis in Diversity. Kaycee is a Jill of all trades, there’s not much she can’t do. Her rich professional and artistic background is why the Utah Art Alliance has welcomed her as the Volunteer Program Manager and Coordinator and an artist in residence at Dreamscapes.

Daisy Blake Perry | PR Manager

Daisy Blake Perry | PR Manager

Daisy Blake Perry grew up in Bath, England, is a journalist, and moved to Utah at the end of 2001. After eight years of working at Salt Lake Acting Company, Daisy returned to the journalism world as arts writer for "IN This Week," a weekly entertainment publication from "The Salt Lake Tribune." She worked there until 2012. Daisy joined "Gephardt Daily" in November 2014, and is now proud to be content manager. She also does PR and is on the board of Pygmalion Productions.

As an actress, her plays include WAIT!, THE WOMEN OF LOCKERBIE, STOP KISS, LIVING OUT, and POPCORN with Pygmalion Productions, POLISH JOKE, HOLD PLEASE and BIG LOVE with SLAC, TALKING WALES I and II with Utah Contemporary Theatre and Kate in THE TAMING OF THE SHREW with Salt Lake Shakespeare. She's appeared in a few SLAMs for Plan-B Theatre, and lots of readings for the companies above. She's also done some fun film and voiceover work. Daisy has a theatre, film and television degree from Bristol University in England. She is also a former derby girl; her derby name is Babe Rainbow and her number is 3.

Lyndsey Kay Nelson | Social Media Manager

Lyndsey Kay Nelson | Social Media Manager

Lyndsey Kay is an Interdisciplinary Studies Major from Southern Utah University and devout Slytherin with ambitions of writing a bestselling novel or owning a corgi, whichever comes first. During her time at SUU she has had the opportunity to work with the school’s marketing department for performing arts and business and will graduate in December of 2021, after which she plans to pursue her passion of marketing for local and regional theatres throughout the country.

Michael Vought | Founder

After earning his doctorate in Theatre Arts, Playwriting at the University of Utah, Michael Vought joined the faculty of Westminster College in 1996. Together with Nina Vought, he built the Theatre Program from a small minor into a thriving major that emphasizes the integrated wellness of the whole artist. He taught classes in Acting, Directing, and Dramatic Theory and Criticism, as well as the legendary May Term class, Vegan Revolution, which gave students the opportunity to cook delicious and healthful meals in the Voughts’ home kitchen. He directed more than fifty theatrical productions at Westminster, including Challenger Deep, for which he authored the script. The Voughts co-founded the Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival in 2015. Michael Vought received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Utah Theatre Association.

Nina Vought | Founder

After earning her MFA in Theatre Arts, Scenic Design at the University of Utah, Nina Vought joined Westminster College in 1995 as Technical Director and Resident Designer. She accepted a full-time faculty position in Theatre Program in 2005. Together with Michael Vought, she built what had been a small minor into a thriving major that emphasizes the integrated wellness of the whole artist. In addition to classes in technical theatre, she regularly taught The Performer’s Body and The Yogic Experience, which helped generations of students discover the profound interconnections of body and mind. She designed costumes and sets for more than fifty theatrical productions at Westminster. The Voughts co-founded the Salt Lake Fringe Festival in 2015. Nina Vought earned a Lifetime Dedicated Service Award from the Utah Theatre Association.
